Prescription Dispensing
We dispense NHS and private prescriptions and will give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicine. We endeavour to provide your prescription promptly.
Unwanted Medicines
Please bring all unwanted or out of date medicines to the pharmacy where we will dispose of them safely.
Needle Exchange
We provide sterile needle packs and accept used needles for disposal.
Health Advice and Self care
If you are looking for an effective medicine to treat a minor ailment, we offer a wide range of non prescription medicines that are only available through pharmacies. The pharmacist and trained assistants are always available for advice. We also offer a range of devices to help you manage your illness including for example blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters and nebulisers.
Smoking Cessation Advice
All staff can advise you on giving up smoking but we also have an NHS Cignificant trained smoking cessation advisor who can work with you to provide full one to one support to help you quit.
Chlamydia Testing Service
We offer a confidential service to tackle the issue of possible sexually transmitted infection.
Emergency Contraception
Our pharmacists are able to provide emergency hormonal contraception and confidential pregnancy and sexual health advice.
Home Health Catalogue
We offer an extensive range of products designed for easier living in and around the home.
Signposting
In the event that we are unable to help with your queries or needs, we can provide you with sources of care and support in the local area or direct you to the most appropriate source of help. Just ask!
Emergency Supplies
If you require a medicine in an emergency and are unable to contact your Doctor, we may be able to help. This service is only available for genuine emergencies and a charge may be made.
Medicine Information Service
Our pharmacist is available to discuss how you are getting on with your regular medicines. This will help you to learn more about your medication and answer any questions you may have especially if you are having difficulty taking your medicine or are unclear about how to take it.
Medicine containers
We put all medicines in child resistant containers unless you ask us not to do so. However KEEP ALL MEDICINES OUT OF REACH AND SIGHT OF CHILDREN. If you need help in managing and taking your medication, you may benefit from using our ‘monitored dosage containers’. There may be a charge for this service unless you are exempt under the Disability Discrimination Act . Please ask for details.
Travel and Holiday Advice
If you are planning to travel we can help you plan for your trip. We can advise on sun protection as well as insect bites, tummy upsets and other holiday complaints. We can also advise on vaccinations you may require and anti malarial treatments. We offer a Vaccination Report at competitive prices that can be submitted to your GP in order for you to receive the correct vaccination.
Patient Medication Records
Our computer allows us to keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems such as interactions between medicines and will help us to deal with any queries you may have. We comply with the Data Protection Act and NHS code of practice on confidentiality. Total Health Pharmacy is also able to participate in the Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions from your doctors surgery. Please ask for details.
Pregnancy Testing and Ovulation Kits
We can help with easy-to-use diagnostic kits or provide confidential testing and advice. We are able to provide emergency hormonal contraception. Please ask our pharmacist for details.
Disabled Customers
The pharmacy allows easy access to disabled customers and includes a door bell that can be rung for assistance.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Our staff work hard to provide you with the best possible service. Please treat them with courtesy and respect. We reserve the right to refuse to provide services to individuals who act in a violent, threatening or aggressive manner.
Chaperone Policy
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. This chaperone may be a family member of friend. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present i.e. a trained member of staff.
Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking an appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a chaperone at the time of request. However occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.
Your pharmacist may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy for a private conversation if required.
